Beer Brewing

Beer brewing starts with malted grains being milled and mashed in hot water to release fermentable sugars. The resulting liquid, called wort, is boiled with hops for bitterness, flavor, and aroma, then cooled and fermented with yeast. After fermentation, the beer is conditioned, filtered or left unfiltered, carbonated, and packaged.

Beer brewing includes malt, mashing, hops, yeast, fermentation, conditioning, and the differences among lagers, ales, stouts, porters, sours, wheat beers, and other styles. It also involves brewing traditions, pub culture, monasteries, modern craft movements, industrial giants, and the famous cities and countries that became beer centers. The wider culture includes festivals, taprooms, food pairings, seasonal releases, brewery tourism, and mass-market drinking habits.
